After-School Programs
Art Outreach, Chess Club, Drama Club and Yoga are the Chesterbrook PTA managed after-school activities. Sign-ups begin on the Chesterbrook PTA website on September 16 at 6 pm. Girls on the Run is managed by the PTA in conjuction with the Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia, and sign-ups begin September 18 at www.gotrnova.org.

Art Outreach Cecily's Studio Drawing Class For Students In Grades K through 6 Session I is perfect for non-SACC students. Session II is preferred for SACC students Mondays starting September 27 and running through December 12. 11 Weeks Total. Chess Club Chesterbrook Chess Club for 2nd through 6th graders Fridays starting October 1 through May 30 (some Fridays are skipped, see flyer for exact dates), 23 sessions total. Time: 3:15 - 4:15 pm Location: Cafeteria Cos: $115, includes lessons, game analysis, t-shirt, weekly light snack, and end of the year party Maximum students: 50 Parent/guardian required to volunteer to keep score and maintain student safety and security at least 2 sessions. Drama Club Beginning Drama for 3rd through 6th Graders 8 weeks beginning September 29 through November 17 Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 PM Cost $80 per child Min: 7 students Max: 12 students A 60 minute class designed around a brief script. The last class concludes with a short performance for parents and friends. A literature based curriculum, the Beginning Drama program puts emphasis on reading and adaptation to stage direction. Each class begins with a warm-up followed by stage direction exercises and then work on the selected script. Character development skills grow through additional theater games. This class will meet on the school’s stage. Creative Drama for K to 2nd Graders 8 weeks beginning September 28 through November 23 Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 PM Cost: $80 per child Min: 7 students Max: 15 students Creative drama is available for children who love to imagine, pretend and dress in a variety of costumes. Each week, our instructor tells a different story for the students to practice and expand necessary theatrical skills. Costumes are provided for the number of students in each class. Students learn characterization, facial and vocal expression and basic stage direction. The last class will conclude with a demonstration for parents. Girls on the Run Running club for third through fifth graders encourages positive emotional, social, mental, and physical development. Runs October 4 through December 17 Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30 - 4:00 pm 5K run date is December 4 or 5. Maximum of 20 girls, by lottery Cost: $165, includes 2 shirs, water bottle, snack, and race entry fee.
